New drama for Matsumoto Jun

Matsujun will be returning to the Getsuku timeslot (Mondays at 9PM) with a new drama this coming January 2014. Entitled Shitsuren Chocolatier (Heartbroken Chocolatier), this is a live action adaptation from last year's Kodansha Manga Award winner for Shoujo by mangaka Mizushiro Setona.

Koyurugi Sota (Matsumoto Jun) who attends a confectionary school fell in love at first sight with his senior Saeko during high school days. Like a wish come true, he is in a relationship with her now. After a lot of effort, they started dating right before Christmas. However, Saeko says she cannot meet Sota on the very day of Valentine’s Day which they should have commemorated together. He manages to see her the day before, but she will not accept the chocolates he has made for her with all his heart, knowing that she loves them. In addition, he is even told that she did not intend to date him. However, the single-minded Sota is not discouraged and resolves to make Saeko pay attention to him again through her love of chocolates. He goes over to France alone to train and becomes a top chocolatier with the nickname Chocolate Prince.

As of the moment, only Matsujun has been announced as part of the cast. No word yet on who will be playing Saeko.

Who's your guess? As a die hard Shinkumi fan, I would love Nakama Yukie to play this role but then again, Saeko is only 1 year older than Sota and Yukie is 4 years older than Jun. But then again, anything is possible in dramaland.

Just for fun, I googled "Japanese actresses born in 1982," (since Jun was born in 1983) and I got Fukada Kyoko. What do you think of her and Jun in a drama?

As I was checking out the tweets earlier today, I found a link to Asianwiki's page of Heartbroken Chocolatier (Shitsuren Chocolatier) with the casts updated.

Aside from Matsujun who's playing the obsessed Koyuguri Sota, here's who's playing who:

Ishihara Satomi as Yoshioka Saeko
Mizukawa Asami as Inoue Kaoruko
Mizuhara Kiko as Kato Erena
Mizobata Junpei as Olivier Treluyer

The casts look fine to me although I agree with those people who said that Satomi should've been Kaoruko and Asami should've been Saeko. That would've been better.

I've started reading the manga. As of the moment, only chapter 2 is scanlated so I'm not sure how Sota's character is involving now but judging from what I've read so far, I don't like him. His obsession with his sempai is crazy!!! I'm curious as to how Jun will play this character but on the other hand, I won't be surprised if I will be cringing with Sota's character.
