The Opportunist (Love Me With Lies #1) by Tarryn Fisher

“You can only give your heart away once, after that, everything else will chase your first love”

“I think that after the first time you give your heart away, you never get it back. The rest of your life is just you pretending that you still have a heart."

The Blurb:

Olivia Kaspen has just discovered that her ex-boyfriend, Caleb Drake, has lost his memory. With an already lousy reputation for taking advantage of situations, Olivia must decide how far she is willing to go to get Caleb back. Wrestling to keep her true identity and their sordid past under wraps, Olivia’s greatest obstacle is Caleb’s wicked, new girlfriend; Leah Smith. It is a race to the finish as these two vipers engage in a vicious tug of war to possess a man who no longer remembers them. But, soon enough Olivia must face the consequences of her lies, and in the process discover that sometimes love falls short of redemption.

IMO:

Holy S! What the hell did this book do to my emotions?! I was a complete mess after I read it and I read it only in a span of 4 hours.

I love how Caleb and Olivia met. I think it was sweet though shocking that Caleb chose to miss a deciding shot because it was more important for him to get to know Olivia than win another basketball game.

I understand Olivia's fears and her incapacity to feel love and to give love. However, unfortunately for her, she never moved on. Her father's mistakes are a looming shadow over her and one of the reasons why her relationship with Caleb didn't succeed.

It was sad and it was too bad because they were fiercely in love with each other. Their love story could've survived if they made the right choices, were honest and more open with each other.

The story is far from a fairy tale, it's freakin' real and totally heart wrenching. The ending saddened me. I was hoping for a different ending but like I said, this book is so real that of course, that's not gonna happen.

It's the first book in the Love Me With Lies series and just knowing that it is a series is giving my heart a small dash of hope for a better outcome overall.

Conclusion:

A great book with unexpected twists and turns. The kind of book that will make you smile and cry. A book that will struck a chord in your heart and will make you think and will leave you speechless.
