Something About You (FBI / US Attorney #1) by Julie James

“If you also thinks it means I wake up every morning wondering what I did to deserve having you back in my life, well, you'd be right about that too.”

The Blurb:

Fate has thrown two sworn enemies...

Of all the hotel rooms rented by all the adulterous politicians in Chicago, female Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron Lynde had to choose the one next to 1308, where some hot-and-heavy lovemaking ends with a death. And of all the FBI agents in Illinois, it had to be Special Agent Jack Pallas who gets assigned to this high-profile homicide. The same Jack Pallas who still blames Cameron for a botched crackdown three years ago—and for nearly ruining his career.

Into each other's arms...

Work with Cameron Lynde? Are they kidding? Maybe, Jack thinks, this is some kind of welcome-back prank after his stint away from Chicago. But it's no joke; the pair is going to have to put their rocky past behind them and focus on the case at hand. That is, if they can cut back on the razor-sharp jibes—and smother the flame of their sizzling-hot sexual tension.

IMO:

My first Julie James book was entitled, "Just The Sexiest Man Alive." Coincidentally, that was also the book that made me go back to reviewing books. I was just excited after reading that one that I can't help but gush about it in my blog. I adore her lead characters. Her female lead is not a dim-witted, clumsy girl, rather a smart and career oriented woman. Her male lead is not an all out jerk but a slightly arrogant yet endearing guy.

Thinking (and hoping) that JTSMA was not just a fluke, I decided to get other books by Julie James. Something About You is the first book in her FBI/US Attorney series. I was already intrigued. I'm a fan of suspense stories but I must admit, I mostly show it through my TV habits. Not so much in the books that I read.

Cameron Lynde works as an assistant US attorney who decided to pamper herself and stay overnight at a hotel while her house is having some renovations done. Unfortunately, a night of peaceful she had not, instead, she was disturbed by the loud sex that was happening in the next room.

The night of passion happening next door ends with death and now Cameron is in the middle of an investigation as the case's only witness. And once again, unfortunately for her, FBI Special Agent Jack Pallas is the one in-charge of the the case and the two of them had some interesting history together.

Although the book has suspence, it is a contemporary romance through and through. Readers already know who was responsible for the murder but even though that was revealed very early, that doesn't stop the story from getting exciting.

Once again, I love Julie James' characters. Both of them are smart, witty, capable and totally likeable. Their banters are sizzling with unresolved sexual tension and they have such good dialogues. They're funny but the tension was obviously on the surface. They are also professional enough to resist their amazing chemistry because both of them are in a middle of a serious murder investigation and know what is the priority.

But of course, that won't stay long because like I said, this is romance, people. And when they get together, fireworks will surely fly!

Conclusion:

Julie James did it again! This book was really good and she made me fall in love with Cameron and Jack.
